Frequently asked questions
How do I save a link?
Two ways: in the app, tap + and paste an address; or from any app (Safari, social media…), use the share sheet and pick CatchLink. The title and image are fetched automatically.
The title and image don't appear right away?
Enrichment happens in the background, right after you add a link. If it fails (site unavailable, offline…), the link is still saved and you can retry extraction from the detail screen.
What are the "smart" summaries and tag suggestions?
On devices that support Apple Intelligence, CatchLink generates a short summary and suggests tags, entirely on-device. Nothing is sent externally. On unsupported devices, the app works without these suggestions.
How does offline reading work?
Article content is archived when you save a link, for clean reading even without a connection. You can adjust text size and theme, highlight passages, and listen to the article aloud.
What are Collections?
They are thematic groups discovered automatically from your links (on-device semantic analysis). You can adopt a collection as a tag, rename it, or exclude a link from it.
How do I sync across my devices?
Sync uses your private iCloud. Make sure you're signed in to the same iCloud account on your devices and that iCloud Drive is enabled. The sync status is shown in the app's Settings.
Sync isn't working?
Check that you're signed in to iCloud, that your network connection is active, and that the app shows "On" in Settings ▸ Sync. Changes propagate once you're back online.
Can I import/export my bookmarks?
Yes. You can import a bookmarks file (HTML) from another browser, and export yours in the same format from Settings.
Widgets and Siri
CatchLink offers widgets (Home Screen, Lock Screen, "Today's Picks", stats) and Siri shortcuts to open a link, read the next one, or mark everything as read.
Is my data private?
Yes. Everything stays on your device and in your private iCloud. No data is sent to SourceFactory. See the Privacy page.
